  Tertiary nose of black tea, smoke, earth and tomato leaf. On opening a quite strong Cointreau orange zest element which slowly faded with air as the black tea and smoke took over.
  
  More fruit on first taste with plum, cherry, with almost a rose/Turkish delight tinge before the black tea, smoke and earth elements take over mid palate and lead onto to a very drying tannin tea finish.
  
  A wine to appreciate more than love. It could be that it’s best days are behind it but there’s still lots to admire. I don’t know enough about mature burgundy to know how this stacks up against the best. For me it’s intriguing with the counter-play of the tertiary elements but it lacks a bit of fruit and balance and the tea tannins at the end are obtrusive.

  2nd bottle, this time the tannin were silky, very matured and well balanced. Acidity OK but higher would be preferred. Lasted quite a few hours while using 2 different size of Burgundy glassware, both were suitable. Cork was in very dry state and literally fell to pieces on opening attempt, had to use a filter to salvage the bottle.

  Loved this. Lots of roasted sesame and soy in the aroma profile. Big, profound.

  Wine Spectator newbies; 10/18/2018-10/20/2018 (Marriott Marquis): More of a mix between the spice and potpourri and red fruits. It's a bit smoother and a bit less of an intense finish that the other two had. Almost a touch of coffee towards the end. This softened in the glass. Starting to prob be a bit closer to the drinking window.
