  A deep and strong nose of autumn forest after rain, mushrooms, may be some leather. No fruits whatsoever on the palate, quite high acidity, some mashed cranberries, like an oldish Burgundy, but with darker berries. A bit different from classic old Rioja style, although I believe this was 100% Tempranillo.
