DFC has it right (see next note); this wine was receding but still wonderful to experience-decent (if coy) nose, still a mid-length finish, fruit mostly AWOL but the grapes have left enough to fill out the package. A better sipping wine, allowing one to appreciate it!

Audouzed for 4 hours and then double decanted off sediment. Dark garnet in color with slight bricking. On the nose, herbal, forward, and intoxicating dried cherries and spice. On the palate, resolved dark cherries and more spice on an extremely long 40+ second finish. Beautiful wine on the downslope perhaps, but quite a treat!

Very smooth, nice fruit but on light side. Sufficient spice to make it interesting.

2 TASTINGS TODAY- RHONES & WANNABES + CABERNET SAUVIGNONS (Prima, Walnut Creek, Ca.): Typical syrah fruit, light body, simple, pleasant, seems tired.

Rhone New and Old World (Prima, Walnut Creek, Ca.): Thick, rich, deep, intense, yet fruit forward, slightly hollow, needs 10 years to develop and peak.
