Second wine at the Vintner Luncheon for Napa Valley Vintners SOMM DC.
Inky purplish ruby red. Bright nose with a hint of alcohol, dark plums, cinnamon and a touch of black raspberries. Medium tannins (6.5/10) with a medium plus body. Spiced palate with dark fruits and anise. Medium plus to long finish. Drink till 2024.

Previous notes apply. Resolved and likely as integrated as it will get before it starts to move into the later stages of its evolution. Black and purple fruits dominate. PnP was good service. Drink now and over the next 5+ years (it’ll go longer I’m sure, but if you like more freshness in your PSs, best to consume before 2024).

This has lost a little steam since I last had it in 2016. Still “fine,” but not as attention-grabbing as in the past. I like it. I don’t love it. A Tuesday night throw-down with pizza kind of wine (of which there are worse things in the world to be).

deep dark, almost black in color, rich, mouth filling, dark fruits, long finish, balanced, even elegant, no hints of alcohol despite 15.1%

After a brief decant found a very well made Petite Sirah that motivates future purchases. Great QPR.
