Funny how we acquire a wine for a few years, move on to other wines only to one day pick up a bottle and ask, “why haven’t I been buying this wine recently?” Such is the case with Janasse. It’s a Domaine the performs reliably year in and year out. This 2012 is no different. The nose expands with bacon, smoked meats, iodine, mineral, cassis and herbs de provence. The nose transfers seamlessly to the palate where licorice, black cherry and blackberry join in. The mouthfeel is round, clean and satisfying; such a delight to drink again. 14% alc. With (beef & pork) chili. Recommended.

This is a decent CdR for the $15 I paid. The nose is rewarding with dark fruit and spice though it falls a little acidic and flat on the palate. I recently also had the Guigal CdR which was $13 at Costco and found it to be a slightly stronger choice, though both are great as a mid-week quaff.

Noticeably younger than 2012. Was 2014
