  • Ripe red fruit on the nose, cherries and plums. Slightly austere palate, tannins still quite chewy, but with a warm lingering lavender and molasses finish. Interesting. Good value as always from TL.

  • 14.5% alcohol. G 85%, S and Mrvdr making up the balance. Very good long dense cork with no wine penetration whatever; lovely smell off the cork. Dark colour with some thinning at the edge of the rim. Rich nose with a dominant raisiny component, in nice way. The mouth is more complex, with liquorice and excellent acidity in the finish. While this is undoubtedly a hefty wine, it is not a heavy one. I may be mistaken, but I feel that the age of the vines has a major impact on the density and depth of flavour of this wine. At no stage does the oak call attention to itself.
Great match with roast beef on the bone.
A success of its type, and a repeat purchase.

  • The funkiness and barnyard characters showing from a 2007 tasting continue (in force) but there's little trace of the sweet red fruits. Plenty of slightly gravely tannin but not firm or aggressive. I did previously think this would drink easily as a 12yr+ but now I'm not so convinced but the lack of fruit carry. Style, wonderfully structured and faithful to the appellation.

  • The nose was really nice of cherry liquor. On the palate this had lots of red fruits and really good finish with good tannins and really good minerality. Unfortunately I think this bottle was mildly corked which showed on the finish that had some bitter, paper like component, which could be detected every other sip.
