Community Tasting Notes (2)

  • Courarres, Aillees, and Huertebise side by side blind. A fun exercise for wines that are pretty new to both me and the others who tasted them. Nobody guessed they were from the same producer. The Pinot was the least preferred, feeling a bit clunky with what people felt like was the most noticeable sense of dosage (despite all three being in the same range). The chard was at the other end of the spectrum, lean, racy, and focused, and a hit with this group. The meunière split the difference, being a surprisingly elegant example of that grape. Good wines, and I’m happy to have some, but not something I need to run after.

  • This is the 2013 disgorgement. 09/13 to be exact from the back of the bottle.

Crazy rich chardonnay nose showing some oxidization. Or at least tasting a bit like hazelnuts, very cut and clean on the palate, juicy acidity. Well done.
