Christmas lunch with the wine ark boys (McLeay Street Bistro, Potts Point): Half-bottle. Oooh, lovely botrytised nose, apricot compote, sweet spice, a little vanilla, marmalade underpin. Softly juicy, luscious, perhaps a little too much sugar but on the cusp. Pretty dame fine. Totally smashable.

Clear, medium golden colour. Medium nose of preserved lemon, honey and lemon cake biscuit. Semi sweet, medium+ body, medium+ acid palate with fairly non descript flavours and a long finish. Good to very good quality sweet wine. Enough acid to keep things balanced enough.

Dinner at Grace (Grace, Chicago): Medium-light gold color. Subdued nose of honey, marzipan, other vaguely rich and sweet aromas. On the palate this is nondescript, being moderately sweet without much body or acidity. Obviously inferior to its sweet cousins from the left bank. Paired with cashew, cocoa, crème fraîche, and hoja santa.

Couleur jaune paille clair, brillant, lourd.

Light apricot and green melon. Good weight. Clears almost completely but lacks a touch of acid to clean off. Nice.
