Conrad’s: Lots of black-blue primary notes; rich, blk tar w/big round t’s, very young, thought it was a grt Cali syrah; a bit austere, mineral, tannic.

Northern Rhones @ Conrads: I have never had a Gangloff. This was quite different than the other wines. Signs of reduction. Funkier aromas. Complex and animal. Juicy acidity. I think I liked this more than others.

EWG does Northern Rhones (Conrad's Abode): Great complex nose showing some rockiness and pepper. Juicy palate that shows a lack of fruit being fairly watery. A big let down after an inviting nose.

I'm a HUGE fan of this producer but I am also honest and this wine really lacks the stuffing I expect. The aromas are attractive but the flavors are weak and thin. Victim of 2002. It won't stop me from future purchases on other vintages.

If the taste of this wine matched the nose, then it would have been a four star event. Unfortunatly, not the case. Aromas of meat, dark raspberries, a hint of green, bacon and maybe a touch of licorice. The taste had a good deal of green and meaty flavors (but not green meat!) but offered virutally no fruit. Either this was very closed or a victim of the vintage. Very little changed on the second day. Overpriced for what it is.
