From 2 half bottles from the same cellar, and purchased from a reputable source, it was uncanny the parity between the two. Maybe a half point difference? This was a real revelation, and still showing some freshness, but it is probably a decade past its peak. Notes of cedar, orange zest, and old leather define the wine and make for a very old seductive nose. I suspect from reading other reviews that a 750 ml or a magnum would make for a different wine on the palate and finish. Although impeccably balanced and packed with tertiary complexity and great length, it is a little lean and astringent end palate and on the finish.

Neglible to no fill level loss. The last 12 to 24 months the bottle had been stored upright at room temperature (before that, good cellars conditions). No cork disintegration (but intriguingly under the lead capsule the cork had slightly 'swollen out' of the bottle, see picture). No decanting. No sediment at all! For such an old wine, relatively deep tawny color. After having been given a few swirls & minutes (and until the end of the drinking window, some 2 hours later), it mostly releases old port aroma's. The evolved dry fruit (raisin) flavours are also present on the elegant, medium plus intensity and dry palate which has a silky texture, making for a very drinkable and enjoyable wine! Acidity appears to be on the low side, but this beverage is by no means a spineless affair. The finish is very, very long. 63 years old. There are not many layers left, but still... Amazing!

Lovely. Very little bricking. The bottle had clearly been well cared for. Nose started out with cedar, orange zest, currants, camphor, and a hint of roses. Rich and integrated, there was a delicacy to teh wine, but it was neither feminine nor fleeting. Almost everything was in balance, and the raspberries and blackberries were gentle, then leading to woodsmoke, tobacco, moist earth and glycerine, a hint of a saline note, and some of that orange zest. This was a lovely wine that kept developing over the course of an hour.

A real beauty, still fresh and young. You would never guess it was a 59 blind

Almost eerily identical in character and quality to my 2020 note.
