Served blind as a “mystery wine” on the night (3+ hour decant). On the nose I had trouble identifying the grape -- wanted to say Old World merlot but the distinct note of dill was clearly New World. We bounced guesses back and forth between Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot when someone blurted out Cabernet Franc and my mind screamed “Eureka!” I can’t tell you how surprised (and disappointed) I was following the reveal. When you combine Diamond Mountain, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Thomas Rivers Brown expectations of a home run even in a tough vintage are fair. I genuinely love most everything TRB does but not on this night. Simple, musty notes of darks fruits in the bouquet layered into a concentrated but lifeless blueberry/blackberry juice unfit for my palate. I guessed the wine was a Long Island Cabernet Franc and follow-up samples later in the evening could not disabuse me of my initial reading on the wine.

Drank this with friends for Game 5 of the World Series. Just seemed like the right wine to drink before a ballgame. It did not disappoint. No specific tasting notes since I'm writing this ten days later, but everyone really enjoyed it.

Sweet black fruit with cassis, black pepper and background green bell pepper. Very good richness, good+ weight and length, overall very nicely balanced.

Nothing short of spectacular. Tannins mellow and integrated with cassis, a narrow shaft of vanilla, red fruit and tobacco

Not as good as the bottle I had 3 or 4 months ago, but still a good wine.
