Off list at Pappas Brothers. Aromas of stems, herbs, spices, and cherries. Palate with tart cherries, stems, earth. Moderate+ tannins. Elegant texture. Moderately long finish. This is still young with more potential lurking underneath. I suspect that this this will bloom more in another 5 yrs or so.

Eye:Dark deep red Nose: black cherry, plum and spice Palate: dark fruits and stems a bit noticable and not in an enjoyable way. Medium acidity with a medium plus finish.
Overall the wine had an austere quality, short of saying green but unsure of the percentage of the stem inclusion but i would guess too much or sorting may have missed some green stems that should have been discarded. Acidity and tanins are fairly balanced and integrated. I do expect more pleasure at this price point but this wouldnt be the first Montielle offering that has disappointed me over the last handful of years.

I like the wine's focus, but it may take some time for the stem notes to be less prominent.
