Community Tasting Notes (2)

  • My last bottle. Lightish ruby, with a brick-red fringe. Strawberries on the nose. Nice use of American oak. Then I find it steering me to older Burgundy, of all places, with mellow cherry and older wood interplaying so well that I'm thinking of French barrique. With time, caramel. Fruit fading. Nicely sweet Rioja. Not raisiny, like the previous bottle. Quite Burgundian in weight and texture. A very good last bottle.

  • Light ruby, with a brick-red edge. Lifted raisiny & red cherry nose. Some older oak in the background - and that's where it stays for the duration of the bottle. The nose is too akin to fruit-juice. Lightish body. Even though a good amount of the fruit has gone, the wine is still properly concentrated and showing obvious regional sweetness. There is no sense that this is drying out. Holding well, but no better than good.
