  • I age my wine in a controlled cellar. This tasted of old sock and cork. Very disappointed. I only was shipped two bottles, and want to see if I just had a bad bottle. I am just glad I decided to drink it alone and not serve it to friends. I will be honest. I sipped a modest 2 oz pour hoping it would open up. It didn't after an hour. Poured another couple of ounces tried to open it up, and it was still terrible. I decanted the rest of the bottle and tried to open it up for another hour, and it still was bad. Ended up pouring it back into the bottle and will use it as cooking wine. Very disappointed since everything else I have purchased was very good.

  • 2011 Silverado Fantasia
    $47 from the winery
    60% Sangiovese / 40% Cab Sauv

    Nose:
Sage, Truffle, dark chocolate, blueberries, tobacco (neither sweet not dried but somewhere in between), chocolate-covered cherries

    Palate:
A tiny bit of eucalyptus peeking through from the Cab, black tea, sage, cherries.

The fruit doesn't show as strongly on the palate as it does on the nose. The palate is more on the tea/herb side.
