Golden yellow in colour, notes of tropical fruit, honey, flowers. Quite rich and ripe. On the palate also rich; the alcohol is showing a little. A bit flabby, just enough acidity, not too much lift. Caramelly. Good, smooth finish. Drink or hold. 87-89

15.1% abv, this is mostly Chard, but the crew supposedly accidentally picked Viognier when harvesting, and thus co-fermented the resulting harvest...hence the "faux pas". The nose shows spicy lemon and peach notes, with honey and hay in the background. Quite floral, probably from the Viognier (which is one of my least favorite white grapes)...but it isn't too overpowering. The palate confirms that this full bodied wine is mostly Chardonnay, with nice med acidity, pear and red apple fruits, ginger/spice, a bit of vanilla, and some heat from the moderately high alcohol. This wine is nice, quite drinkable now and probably not getting any better, but will drink well through 2017 or so...I'd go sooner than later.

Chardonnay and viognier blend. Full, brooding, potent, very Joseph Swan. Untypical, delicious.

Decent tropical fruit and pretty good acidity, but it's a bit heavy and clumsy, with the oak too noticeable.
