This wine took a journey that demonstrates how wine can truly change as it ages. It started out tasting delicious, then it went through a period where it had some bitterness to it, and some funky flavors, and now it's drinking beautifully. Too bad this was our last bottle.

Light to medium purple with garnet highlights. Dark cherry and a hint of cinnamon. Palate is cherry spice and green cola. Moderate acid and fine tannins with a long finish.

As is often the case, when you discover the wine has improved to perhaps the maximum, you find that was the last bottle. A couple years prior, I was not so impressed but, on this occasion, and considering the price point, it was decent. Fairly straightforward dark cherry predominant, medium acid, some more complexity lurking, baking spice and leather, bubblegum, balanced. Enjoyable if not provocative.

This wine is the closest pinot noir that we've had in a long time that truly resembles the character of a fine bourgogne rouge. On the nose there is new leather, mushrooms, mint and raspberry jam. On the palate there are stewed cherries, blackberries, mint and a little beef jerky on the finish. The wine has medium acidity and medium tannins with a long finish. We're going to let this sit for at least another year so that the components can better integrate.

Medium ruby red color; for a Willamette PN, the nose is pretty muted (contrast with White Rose par example) - a few spicy/jammy notes but none of the sought-after barnyard. Medium body, medium to low acid, pretty straightforward cherry fruit, a hint of spice, almost zero tannins. I am speculating this is at the zenith as I don't find anything in it that suggests aging potential. Perhaps that is the way with 2012 - flattering to deceive?
