Mmmm ... this just keeps getting better. Drinking wonderfully now. Elegant, earthy, complex. layered nose that defies description. Palate of spiced cherries, perfectly balanced acidity, fine grained tannins and a long finish. Mouthfilling and flavorful, heady aroma ... just wow! Wish I had another case of this. Had no idea what a bargain this was when I bought it!

The last few bottles of this have shown more burgundian, though very richly fruited again. Yes, it's fairly ripe fruit but more soil-inflected and less new- worldish than my last post "regrets" would indicate.

Still big, dark and rich. On a "fruit day", showing less funk and more New World; call me Dan and I'll sell you the remaining bottles for what you would have paid had I not hogged them all!!!!

A reliably excellent wine; deeply colored, rich dark red cherry fruit on nose and palate. Very ripe but not over the edge, enough funk to distinguish it as burg rather than new world. An excellent wine in the $25 - $30 range. Noticed another rater saying a few years back, "will get more of this". Sorry Dan, I got to it first and took it all.

Savigny Les Beaunes: Gorgeous cherry perfume with lots of depth and notes of earth, mushrooms, and vanilla and a touch of barnyard. Rich and complex, full bodied, good structure. This was my favorite of the night! An excellent wine that could be mistaken for a Grand Cru. I'll be getting more of this one!
