This was right in it's window. Bright golden but no oxidative appearance or character on the nose. Full and rich with lemon citrus and richness on a very long finish. A great food wine.

NobleRottersSydney - Eighty Bucks Plus (Alio's, Surry Hills): [13.5%, cork,] {DavidM} Mid-yellow; not too dark. Pleasantly aged nose of grilled cashews and figs; it’s not all oak, though – with a minerally touch. This is also apparent on the palate, where a steely quality cuts through generous but mainstream white-fruit-chardonnay flavours. It’s medium-full bodied; oak is not overt, although it has a rather slithery sort of texture on the palate, accentuated by surprisingly soft acidity. Pretty generous overall, with moderate complexity and a medium length finish. Probably close to peak but will hold a while yet.

If this was just some random Chardonnay I'd probably have scored it much more highly. However, 1er cru Meursault comes with higher expectations. This was good, but not superb. Plenty of lemon flavour, but didn't have crisp acidity. Felt a little mild - without the minerality one usually looks for in a good white burgundy. All in all, very pleasant but lacking the complexity and wow-factor I was hoping for.

This was the second and the better of the two bottles received as a gift. I enjoyed this one. It was a lighter to medium bodied wine but fresh with some lemon, flowers and mild hazelnuts. I don't think this is a wine to age but one to be enjoyed in the near term.

(Latour Louis Meursault-Blagny Château de Blagny) Medium-pale yellow. The nose is wide and dense, with deep with a concentrated core of chunky pineapple - you have to wait for quite some time before higher-toned, more floral aspects, eventually peek through. Fresh and ebullient on the tongue, starting narrow and widening on the mid-palate. ‘Just enough’ acidity comes late and there’s a nice extra edge of slightly chalky fruit flavour as you go into the finish. The texture is good and so is the flavour, but there’s far from exciting concentration. I would need a little more acid ‘cut’ before I could describe this as mineral. Tasty and clean but initially hard to get worked up about. Right until the bottle was drained, this wine continued to improve. It didn’t speak to me enough to make me want to re-buy, but the wine at the end (3 hours) was far better than the start.

Floral notes, soft lemony tongue with some nutty, wheat on the palate. I really really like this wine.
