Rated like this, but this is definitely controversial and atypical. I mean, it feels like it teeters right on the edge of 'gone too far.' Oxidized, for sure. I think this is all consistent with what others observed, but it is a tough wine to truly enjoy. I don't think continued aging is going to do this any favors.

I was pretty sure that I had left my remaining bottles too long but was pleasantly surprised on opening another bottle. I would actually say that it’s arguably drinking better than it was a few years ago. The sherry-like oxidised notes remain on the nose but in tasting it seems to have softened nicely. I get some tropical fruit but it’s a hard wine to describe, being so unique. As others have said, an acquired taste (my wife hates it) and definitely, in my view, a food wine. While I will be hesitant to leave the few remaining bottles too long, I’m slightly less concerned than I was that this is over the hill.

Popped and poured. Lovely aromas of peach, orange rind, wax and honey. The wine is fully bodied, complex with that lovely slightly oxidized characteristic coming through. This wine clearly still has the ability to age for quite a bit longer.

Nice. Highly oxidative as usual, a hint of salt. Not nearly as profound as the gran reserver tondonia, but nice.
