Raspberry, strawberry, mulberry, and blueberry fruit with wet stones, earth, and violets. The Cabernet Franc imparts a nice savory component—peppers and herbs—but it is restrained enough to add to the flavor profile, rather than hinder it. Very drying in the mouth in a good way. The nose nose hits you from across the room. On day 2, I get more chocolate and dried fruit flavors as well as sweet vanilla on the finish.
Not as profound as some other Bordeaux wines, but polished and very fresh tasting (this is a biodynamic estate). This is a really nice wine for the price (especially considering that I bought it with 9 years of bottle age already on it), but I know that Bordeaux can produce more sophistication and depth if I pay more money.

Recommended by my local wine guy. Montagne Saint-Emilion is not an appellation I'm familiar with, but DAMN this wine is BANGING! Just the slightest bit of bricking on the rim. This bottle is at its absolute peak with a beautiful integration of primary and secondary aromas. It perfectly rides the line between red and black fruits (I find it more Burgundian in overall approach while still possessing typical Bordeaux flavors) with raspberry, strawberry, blackberry, mulberry in harmony with graphite, crushed stone, tobacco, licorice etc., etc. This is a really nice wine that 1) reminds me that Bordeaux can make amazing affordable wine, and 2) demonstrates the amazing value to be found in the lesser known appellations of Bordeaux. Really hope you can find some for yourself! Enjoyed with a seared NY strip steak, roasted potatoes, and wilted spinach; perfection!
