  • Vibrant yellow-green color with a hint of haze that suggests unfiltered nature. The nose is very expressive, rich and characterful with complex aromas of nutty spice, ginger, herbal minty tones, some apple jam, a little bit of crunchy star fruit, light resinous tones, hints of creamy richness and vanilla and even a slightly Cabernet-like touch of blackcurrant. The wine is rich, ripe and somewhat sweet-toned on the palate with bold, vibrant flavors of sweet golden apples, creamy richness, some sweet grapey tones, a little bit of apple peel bitterness, light cinnamon tones, a hint of vanilla and a touch of stony minerality. The finish is rich, powerful and somewhat sweet-toned with complex, medium-long flavors of peach-driven stone fruits, sappy herbal character, some creamy richness, a little bit of toasty oak, light apple jam tones and a hint of vanilla custard.

A rich, harmonious and balanced Douro white with good sense of structure and nice depth of flavor. The wine has obviously seen some oak, but the woody tones really don't dominate as much as they lend this sense of creaminess to the overall flavor profile. The wine feels quite big, weighty and mellow because of its sweet-toned character, but fortunately the acidity keeps the wine nicely in balance throughout. Now the wine is a bit on the too oaky and sweet-toned side for my taste, but not too much - I can imagine the wine could get several more points if it manages to lose some of its baby fat and integrate its oakier tones a bit better with the fruit, if given enough age. The wine is quite good to begin with, but there's definitely some potential for future development here.

    Nice budget-wine.
