Fruit is under the wood. Pencil cedar and oak. Pepper. In addition to crushed red and blue berries, there is a more distinct fresh raspberry. In the mouth the fruit is dominant although the wood leaves a little vanilla. However it is not very lively, leaving a hollow impression. It was probably better a few years ago.Tannins have melted.

Soft, almost too soft, but still rich and fruity. Drink up.

Ready to drink, a bit of bell pepper marred the overall balance. Had side by side with the 1997 merlot. This one was not as rich nor complex.

Awful. Tasted like chalked. May have been corked.
