  • Recently tasted alongside a Maume Mazis 2011 and Roumier Chambolle 2011. Both the Maume and Hospices are considerably better than the Roumier although for a village wine this performed well in such exalted grand cru company. The Maume is stunning with clear linear “elbows”. The Clos however is a league above and is more rounded with years to go.

  • Simply stunning. Tasted alongside a hospices mazis chambertin 2011 which was also very nice but not quite as good. Arguably this wine should be left to develop but when it tastes this good, can it get any better. When a genius like Ponsot looks after the wine, is there any difference between the vintages!

  • Stunning and wiped the floor with a Bellene clos de la roche 2011 (90 points) and Clos de Vougeot thibault liger-belair 2008 (91 points). Built to last with refined power, balance and fruit. Simply lovely

  • After the excitement of the first tasting from a 3 litre bottle, we opened a little 750ml bottle again by Ponsot, Mr Clos de la Roche. This is a big muscular wine. It needed an hour before it settled down but even then..... Having attended the hospice auction last year and heading there in a couple of weeks, it is incredible to know that this a barrel of this wine sold for euro 95k excl. tax last year (288 bottles in a barrel as the angels? take a case of 12 for themselves!!!!!!) so over Euro 300 a bottle. A real treat. I have a few of these bottles so I’ll get the joy of testing them over the coming years but what is certain this will be going strong for years and years to come. Peak I think is 10 years away!!!!
