Beautiful pale amber color Oxidization, granite, fermented apple (James describes it as rotting apple still on the tree after a first frost), finishing with Meyer lemon

Love this wine. So complex and rich. Flirts oxidation and metallic notes but bounces on lovely acid and peach notes. A little rock salt and unami on finish. Just a beautiful ride and delight with varied foods.
One weird note : with uni, it tastes corked! Not before. Not after. Just with.

4th Saturday Brown Bagger (M&R's): Double blind. Similar to warm up one with a fairly deep color and aromas of orchard fruit. Apple and lemon verbena on the palate. Also weighty on the palate, with nice acidity. I prefer this to the first, but only slightly. Guessed Spanish. (M&R)

A: Beautiful pale amber. More auburn really. N: Pronounced nose of dried apple, dried figs, molasses, raisins, vanilla, nutmeg, orange peel, dried pomegranate, hazelnuts. Very sherry-like P: Dry, medium (+) acid, medium alcohol, medium body, medium (+) intensity and medium finish. C: Fully developed not suitable for ageing. Acid still excellent and balances toots of dried fruit. Length is clipped but the intensity and complexity makes this a very good quality wine. Arinto clearly ages well. I suspect this peaked and is heading downhill but glad I caught it now.

Had with fondue. Bottle purchased during trip to Portugal last summer. Lacked vibrancy and dimension of an earlier bottle had at restaurant in Lisbon. This bottle has some nuanced flavors but overall is pretty flat. Maybe a bottle storage issue (a lot can go wrong over 25 years). Saved half the bottle and will try again tomorrow night with seafood.
Day 2 acid is much more vigorous: lemon curd and pineapple. Very nice.
