4th dinner: steak, corn and strawberry shortcake. Perfect wine that tooka bit to open but at 3 hours open, this was really good. Great color and nose and medium bodied. Just yummy. This has 10 yrs left at least.

Deep indigo color. Long lingering legs in the glass. Black and blue fruit on the palate with some white pepper, clove . Full bodied with medium tannins which are nicely integrated. Quite fruit forward but classic Howell Mountain. This seems to have avoided in large measure, the impact of the 2011 off vintage.

Huge improvement in the last 2 years. Deep indigo color. This wine has really opened up. Blackberry, cassis, blueberry, pepper and a bit of oak on the palate. Full bodied with a clean, crisp, lingering finish.

Disappointing. We drink a lot of Craig and the Howell is my favorite but this vintage did not live up to the others. Color was good...medium purple in the glass. This was flat and thin after two hours. Began to open a bit at 3 1/2 revealing a bit of cherry and plum but still muted. In fairness this is outperforms most of the other 2011 cabs. There is no evidence of the green, vegetal notes in most 2011’s.
