  • Early Mar 2024, Rheingau Gourmet Festival, rarity diner “25 vintages of Chateau Montrose”: according to the sommelier double decanted for up to 6 hours!; deep purple color; plenty of red and dark fruits in the nose; well-balanced on the palate with a nicely integrated acidity; slightly tannic; medium body. 90-91/100

Excellent wine from the as lesser considered vintage 2013.

    Vintages of flight IV:
    2013 - 2014 - 2015 - 2016 - 2017 - 2018

  • Elegant, mix of red and dark fruit with some earthy undertones. Not super complex but very nice to drink. A perfect restaurant wine list wine (and that's how I came across it). If you enjoy the very tertiary elements of top BDX this may not be for you, but if you have to buy a 2013 this many not be a bad choice.

  • Going through a rather numb phase right now. Plenty of tanins to carry it along. Nice leather/cedar undertones. Hopefully will blossom in the next few years.

  • With the exception of the top names in St Estephe, this is an AOC which I’ve not had much “luck”.…and given the generally “poor and wet” 2013 vintage in the Left Bank, I was very hesitant to purchase this wine. I ended up “biting” on a Garagiste offer a year ago, mainly based on comments in this forum, indicating St Esrephe escaped much of the rain experienced in other portions of the Left Bank. In retrospect, I’m glad I took a chance.

Decanted for about 45 minutes. Very approachable at ten years reflecting a nice mix of black and red fruits, leather, tobacco, spice, and black moist earth. Structure is evident and in development. I like where this is at now, but I think it will improve over the next 2-3 years. Big finish. Drink now with a decant or cellar over the next 5-8 years. Excellent!

  • black currant, cassis, rose, cigar box, tobacco, graphite, touch of earthiness on day 2, polished tannin, full body, med lasting, pt 93

double decant on day 1 - very aromatic in primary
day 2 with original cork (after 28 hrs) - softer primary aroma, secondary (ie. earthiness) a bit upfront

tried to see if anything else can be evolved after long & slow breathing. The clue shows different stages of the wine and hard to define which stage is better

    Very outstanding in px range!!!
this is too good as comparing to same vintage lynch bages

    enjoy
