The sad story here is that the winemaker Joel Bernstein has informed us wine club members that he has retired. This lovely PS is wonderfully mellowed with age, All notes and mouth feel are very soft and lovely from the first taste after caraffing. This will open up thru the evening. Right away there's some light smoke and almost a celery note (in a good way) nice mineralogy of light iron notes that open in the back of the mouth and thru the finish. Plum and Boysenberry jam and layers of other dark fruit preserves. This is mimics a top shelf cab in style but not common in a PS. Even mellower on night 2 but the notes are still strong. I have one more of this vintage to keep in the cellar another year. Again sad that Joel has retired his magic skills.

Violet color and interesting mouth feel--started out rich but thinned across the palate. Fruit was rich, black berries along with some smoky, meaty notes. Finish was still pretty heavy on the oak. B-

My last bottle...it is so good. See my other reviews. I have to find someone that can make Petite Sirah this well.
