Pale garnet color with a lot of sediment in the bottle.
Fully developed on the nose with a medium+ aroma intensity. Aromas of meat stock, canned mushrooms, cabbage soup, soy sauce, forest floor, dried red berries, licorice, mocha and violets. Lost of tertiary aromas but manages to show some interesting fruit as well!
Dry on the palate with a medium acidity, medium- tannins and medium body. Medium intensity of flavors. Flavors of fresh red fruit, tobacco, leather, mocha, forest floor and spices. Finish is medium.
Slender, juicy and still in a good shape, even though it's way past it's peak. It may have seen better days but that amount of mature complexity with the fresh red fruit on the palate is just outstanding.

FW-BYOB-HT-15#2; 1/24/2015-1/25/2015: Lovely and delicious, with lots and lots of maturity. But the good, complex kind of maturity. Sous bois, wet leaves, damp earth, murky wood, lots of funkiness and barnyard manure as well as chantarelles, cabbage, vegetable soup, thawed strawberries, tobacco and leather. High acidity, good, very supple and mature fruit, dry tannins, medium intensity and a light, slender body. There is definitely life on the palate, and by far the best bottle yet from this lot.

Fathers 60th Birthday; 8/31/2014-9/1/2014: Leather, tobacco, mushrooms and a slight funky stable note. Mature, but not without a nice spicy pinot fruitiness. Good fruit on the palate, high acidity and good length. This is nothing extraordinary, but very vital for it's age and a tasty wine.

Very good but old. Would have guessed Hermitage. The body in particular is still good.
