A very interesting and unique bottle; There's a touch of funkiness (perhaps VA?) on the nose, which does resolve with some air; The palate is quite full-bodied, with dense ripe dark fruits, dried herbs and a touch of licorice; Manages to have a very concentrated palate without feeling too ripe

Sepia with Elaine and Chirong (Sepia, Sydney): Another educational grape! Soft dark plums and fresh figs. Sour cherry, chewy grassy soft herbs. Dark chocolate on a leafy finish, revealing some crushed cloves. Medium bodied, if simple, with some lightness and cracked white pepper. Paired well with our delicate roasted aylesbury duck with sheep yoghurt, mulberry vinegar and sorrel.

Reminded me of nothing so much as a lighter Beuajolais cru on the nose, with violets and other florals at the fore; huge gap between nose and what presents on the palate, though, because the wine turns into a richer, heavier, more Bordelaise thing, with a slightly ferrous edge to it. There's a freshness to it, though, and a litheness -- strikes one as a classic bistro wine. Overpriced in US at $25, but I enjoyed it.

No formal note. Decent light bodied red, recalling some carbonic macerated syrah or gamay.
Red berried fruit sharp acidity. Short length.
Interesting to try

Herbs, forrest floor, and wet stones on the nose. Medium acidity with red fruits on the palate. Ok finish.
