  • Elegant but dark fruited. A bit different than more recent vintages that Pierre has made which have been more red fruit for me. A decent bottle of burg but below expectations.

  • I really wanted to give one of these LSJ a trial run, knowing it would be a bit early, but really I think this is in an awkward spot as a 3 hour slow ox didn’t help, so we decanted and it slightly loosened but wasn’t giving too much up, we put it back and restoppered and will try again tomorrow
Day 2 and this was a lot more giving, nicely floral and red fruited on the nose, the palate still a bit tight but at least showing some lovely red berry fruit and there’s a long juicy finish with lovely acidity.
I think this is saying come back in 5+ years to see what it has in store

  • Sweet, candied and elegant Gevrey Chambertin with cherry fruit, spice and minerals. Drinking nicely already with moderate stuffing.
