  • Agree with recent postings that this is slightly past peak. Still good.

  • Amy & Scott Break in their new deck!: PnP from Mag - This was better than the last time I drank this wine. I suspect it was better because it was poured from Magnum...my last note stated the .750 seemed past its prime and was heading down hill. This wine was still in its prime and drinking very well! Lots of Dundee tart cherry, some baking spices and hints of sweet oak that was well integrated. The finish was medium, and much better than the previous .750. I scored this bottle 92+ tonight...a solid showing!

  • Virtual New Years Eve: F#%K 2020: Lean, slight alcohol, dried flowers, a hint of greeness. This pinot was quite light for Shea, with good balance. 91-92

Also, wines drank in the order listed, finishing with the last Champagne at Midnight (so extra time in jars).

    Wine Review:
2013 Shea Pinot Noir Block 7 - A nice Pinot, but was better when it was younger, IMO. Nose showed cherry notes coupled with lilac/lavender and a hint of anise. Palate was on the light side, but with cherry pie, some brambly notes, and baking spice. Finish was short (which was a little disappointing. Still, a solid Pinot that I scored a solid 91.

  • Virtual New Years Eve: F#%K 2020 (Home): Light medium ruby red color. From Magnum; decanted for 80 minutes and pour into vessels at 5:30pm for transport. Drank a 4oz pour over an hour starting around 9:00pm. This clearly needed the air and seemed more integrated and less green with the decant. Sweet cherries on the nose, dried potpourri floral spice, a little damp earth appears with coaxing and it remains just a touch herbaceous now. The nose is a step above the palate which shows cherry, sous bois, tart red currants, deeply spiced, dried spices. This is a more delicate and subtle Shea than most; clearly red fruited and a little on the green side. And like 2013 in general, a vintage that varies and often benefits from age and air. 90+pts.
