McLaren Vale, Scarce Earth, 2012 single block shiraz tasting (Bistro Moncur, Sydney): Damson and plum, red berry, spice, chocolate, very perfumed top notes and peppery spice. In the mouth the wine has medium plus acidity with red berry, plum and damson notes as well as a modicum of chocolate - right on the cusp of being harvested to early. Chalky tannin then encroaches very this fruit and alcohol warmth. Long. Needs time.
