  • Very tropical on the nose but a nice complexity and balance with a smooth finish.

  • Nearly a year has passed since I last tasted this wine, which has held up surprisingly well. It continues to offer citrus, floral and hay aromas. Fresh, light-bodied and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.5%), it delivers green apple, lemongrass and chive flavors which stay solid in the middle. The finish is medium in length and quite crisp. This is a well-priced summertime sipper which will soon be replaced on the shelves by the 2014 bottling. Based on this sampling, it should stay enjoyable at least until next summer. Drink now-2016.

  • Big sweet Napa Sauvignon. Actually, doesn't even taste like SB.

  • Far more distinguished than its 2012 brethren, this iteration of the Raymond Reserve Selection Sauvignon Blanc offers a nice balance of citrus, floral and hay aromas. On the palate, it is light-bodied, fresh and seamlessly alcoholic (despite a reported ABV of 14.5%). Lemongrass, green apple and dried herb flavors hold nicely in the middle and throughout the medium-length, tangy finish. Raymond's distributors market this wine to restaurants (aggressively). As such, you will find it on many wine lists. Because there is vintage "overlap" at this time, be sure to specify the 2013 rather than the 2012. The latter is a disappointment, while this bottling is significantly more respectable. Drink now-2016.
