South African Wine + Surf Trip; 5/17/2014-6/1/2014 (Western Cape, South Africa): Deep berries, sweet fig paste, violets and soil on the nose. Plummy, earthy, with spice cake and cedar on a bed of fine tannins and medium acid. Midpalate falls off a bit, and it finishes light, but I like the flavors a lot. Drink now. A blend of 26% Merlot, 26% Cab Sauv, 21% Cab Franc, 15% Shiraz and 2% Pinotage.
