Juicy, relectant, dense, some yellos stone fruit but dominated from pink grapefruit and salinity, everything is at the right place. Still very young. Refreshing acidity. 92+

  • 12,5% alcohol. Tasted blind.

Quite deep yellow-green color with golden highlights. The nose is very open, fragrant and so obviously Riesling that I'm willing to bet my life on this wine being a Riesling after just a single sniff. Varietally typical aromas of perfumed white flowers, beeswax, some ripe citrus tones, a little bit of honeydew melon, a hint of peach and a developed touch of some waxiness. The wine is structured, medium-bodied and mineral on the palate, but also pleasantly round and oily at the same time with dry flavors of tangy green apples, steely minerality, some beeswax, a little bit of developed dried peach, a hint of lemon marmalade and a touch of stony mineral bitterness. The racy acidity and steely mineral edge make this wine feel pretty typical for a Rheingau Riesling. The finish is lively, rich and lengthy with focused flavors of honey, steely minerality, some tangy green apples, a little bit of key lime, light pithy hints of pomelo and a touch of beeswax.

A nicely structured, harmonious and mineral Riesling that shows some enjoyable developed richness, but also lots of minerality and acidity to keep the sweeter tones well at bay. Most likely the 5 years have toned down the wine a bit, as it lacks the leanness and austerity a young Rheingau Riesling might show. Will probably continue to develop for a number of years. Delightful stuff, recommended.

  • (at Social Eating House - London) Beautiful, rich mouth feel for a Riesling trocken. Golden color and tart apple flavors. Delicious. (91)

Oak? Reminiscent of good quality oaked Sauvignon Blanc.
Luminous touches to the darker colour, very rich and exotic aromas... super character: hints of oak, cream, tropical fruit.

Concentrated and rich on the palate, clearly needs time. Creamy elements, some oak, complex and spicy. John commented on ‘orange juice’.

    Next day:
Less defined. Oak still there, feels kind of soft and deep. Classy but obvs needs time.
