  • Prior bottle was eight and a half months ago and this wine has held up quite well; my notes were quite similar. Blackberry, black cherry and vanilla on the nose. Opened about an hour ahead of time and drunk over the course of an additional three hours, it again showed it's best after three hours open. Medium bodied with bright blackberry and black cherry upfront. Rounds out through the middle with more soft and expressive blackfruit notes as opposed to brighter and more tart. Acidity picks up again towards the back, providing good contrast. Minerals and nearly fully integrated spices notes mark the finish. Overall, the flavor profile has shifted just slightly with blackberry taking over from wildberry, a bit more depth and roundness in the middle and slightly less tart and less acidity than previously. Spice notes are in the background now. Balance shown throughout was another highpoint. Feels at peak. May improve at the margins and certainly should be able to hold this level for 2-3 more years, just showing extremely well at present.

  • Wildberry and black cherry on the nose. Medium bodied (13.9% ABV) and opened two hours ahead of time really allowed this wine to shine. Black cherry and blackberry upfront with a more tart wildberry note behind. Excellently balancing acidity towards the back along with mineral notes, lingering richness and just enough spices to keep it lively. Overall, this bottle was refined and silky with the balance between the blackfruit notes and the acidity creating a wine with complexity upfront and through the middle, tied together extremely well through the finish. Clearly has the structure and fruit to continue to improve, but given how the 2008 recently showed for me, I'd probably drink this before 2020 as you don't want to miss where this wine is right now.
