My last bottle. I expected it to be long gone, but it was delicious. A nose of earthy, dusty, tea notes with some blueberry and violets was followed by a medium-bodied palate of slightly acidic blackberry/blueberry fruits, and hints of forest floor/mushroom and anise. For its age, it was a special treat! If you have any, definitely drink up....

This wine has aged gracefully. Beautiful retention of color - only slight bricking on the very outer rim. Fruit is still fairly fresh but tawny -- and nice long finish. Tannins have softened. Pronounced wet leather in the nose.

OBVIOUS RINGER, as color, weight, and aromatics differed profoundly from the Cote-Rotie's and Hermitage's. Ellen who I guess(I know after 43 years together) is biased to the New World Wine style, .i.e. - rich extracted jammy wines, pronounced this as the only wine she truly liked all evening, IT WAS HER TYPE OF WINE.

Five hour decant. Very good with some fruit still present. Consistent to the end. Probably end of life so drink now if you have this vintage.

Surprised it was still good, but it was smooth with decent fruit and nice finish. Others say 93, I didn't see that.

FRENCH BAKERY Northern Rhone BYO Dinner; 6/3/2008-6/4/2008 (The French Bakery, Kane Concourse, Bay Harbour Islands, FL): Richard's RINGER!!! Received 4 of 15 1sts(Includung Ellen and I) in flight vs the 100pt-1991 Chapoutier Le Pavillon (9of15), and 1995 Guigal Hermitage(2of15).
Intense and rich bouquet and tactile sense. At 18 yrs a BABY, it was probably the most YOUTHFUL wine of the evening and probably will outlive all of us.
