OK- not great. Only owned bottle for 2 years. This had topped - to my taste. Opened together with a 1985 which was far better in aftertaste length and balance. Quite alcoholic & nutty with short aftertaste. No real remains of that velvety feel. Decanted and sampled every hour, first 8 hours - no significant difference. Better composition the following day, but not an absolute joy.

Commanderie de Bordeaux: 2004 Horizontal (Market at Shangri-La - Vancouver, BC): Decanted for 3 hours. Super spicy on the nose showing plenty of baking spices, clove, and black pepper. Softer with more sweetness on the palate, with rich black cherries and tons more clove spice towards the back end. Gripping palate, spicy and delicious. A nice cap to the evening. No rush to drink these up. Good+
Light to medium brick red. It still had some alcohol bite after fours hours of a double decant. The wine is a little tart, with cherry and dark chocolate flavors. Not as good of a bottle compared to the last. Somewhat disjointed.

Dark garnet color in the glass, fairly clear looking. Nose is a bit hot showing notes of Kirsch, Armagnac and a little graphite of all things. Flavors of berries, light notes of currants and sweet plums. Medium acidity, full bodied. Drink or hold.

This bottle had a base neck fill and the cork was clearly failing on one side. Upon initial decanting, the alcohol heat was very evident and the wine was quite sweet, with great fruit showing. The color was brick red with a bit of browning. After 5 hours in the decanter, the alcohol had calmed down considerably. The sweetness had also reduced a bit and the wine had a dry finish very much like a typical Dow port. A very pleasant drink. More to come.
