Darkened yellow. Appears like an aged burgundy and has some of that musky funky aged burgundy profile but wasn’t over the hill yet. Some very interesting flavors, banana mousse in particular. Still it hit me like an aged Chave Hermitage blend and was a bit too much like a Marsanne for my liking.

KYD #2.2 (Valby Brasserie): A lot darker in color than I had expected and it it seems very mature just based on the dark yellow color. Initially, it was closed down but with 3-4 hours of decanting it opened up nicely. It is clearly not a young wine anymore and the flavors tend towards carmelized pineapple and yellow apples. There is still a lovely hint of vanilla and smoke but it also seems a bit waxy. The alcohol is clearly present but it still feels fairly balanced without being elegant in any way (not meant in a bad way). It is a wine packed with dense and mature Chardonnay fruit and there are still plenty of things to enjoy. I liked it a lot but it required some serious decanting...

Unlike any Chard in my experience. Restrained power of a great Alsace riesling but deeper and more body. Also, amazing nose.. Worth the wait, and cost,.

After about two hours open. Light straw yellow. Nose of pineapple and fresh-baked cookies. Rich, luscious mouthfeel w/o being at all heavy-handed Waxy, white fruit. I don’t remember a white wine this good. Wow. A once-a-year treat at most.
Now having reviewed other notes: I disagree about the alcohol. I found it to be balanced. Not a quaffing wine but presumably that wasn’t the intention. Complex and contemplative.
