red rubin in the baloon, still. Complex notes of dark chocolate and licorice, some light bitterness. At the palate some ripe red fruit left, melt with underbrush. Not the very best Rocca di Frassinello, but nonetheless perfect companion in a rainy and cold evening, with a worried look ahead

A young wine with plenty of tannins, but relatively smooth nonetheless. The excessive Oak treatment and not fully integrated alcohol took it down a couple points for me, but there is a lot of very good things about this wine. A little spice, black fruits, including some plum with red fruits backing it up. Some leather and dried herbs as well. This wine could improve significantly if either or both of the Oak and alcohol resolve themselves over the next 3+ years, with a potential 10 year drinking window ahead.

The 2010 Rocca di Frassinello is a lovely blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Sangiovese. It boasts a deep, thick ruby core and is packed with vibrant aromas of raspberry, blueberry and creme caramel. It is a powerful, full bodied wine, yet soft and silky on the palate as it reveals harmonious layers of creme de cassis, fresh garden flowers and digestive cookies. It lingers on for forty five seconds with a sweet and unctuous finish. A great effort to be enjoyed over the next decade.

A little too much alcohol in the nose in my opinion. Maybe this will settle over the time but I don't know, we'll see.
