Good colour. Plenty of dark fruits (berries, plum) on the nose and palate, along with a savoury/funky. The tannins at the finish are quite drying for me, so think it needs food to really shine.

Popped and poured. The oak felt more bold than it had previously but otherwise things were as they had been - plums, cherries, fresh acidity, fine textured but grippy tannins. Practically evaporated before our eyes...

Standard expression single malts (My place, Kent Street): No decanters or jugs so this got slopped into a the nearest clean vessel and was treated with due rustic respect. A bit reductive initially but the splashing about gave it black cherry over plum, bit of alcohol heat/spice and some slightly course tannins. Perfect with stew and polished off with due aplomb.

From Coravin. Slightly spirituous, cherry and berry, touches of cream, sweet spice and plum. The palate follows the nose. Tannins are muted and the alcohol head lends a touch of sweetness. Tastes stronger than the 13.5% specified on the label. Hmm.

Drying tannins with berry and cherry, finishes warm. Bit of tartness as well that isn't unwelcome or unpleasant. As a mate says "it is what it is" and none the worse for that.
