  • I got licorice on the nose - was not the most appealing. However, the palate was great! Cherry to start, licorice to finish. Had during a Zin tasting, reminded me more the one from Paso Robles than Dry Creek or Lodi, so more medium body with softer tannins.

  • 2nd note on this.

medium-full body with supple acidity and apple skin tannin.
notes of wild cherry, dried dark fruit, raisin, and plum. whiff of old fashioned cola, and black tea.

big, fruity, but definitely italian. worth trying.

  • Very dark, almost black cherry red color that permits only very little light through. The nose feels somewhat reticent with quite sweet aromas of cherry and blackcurrant marmalade, some Maraschino cherries, a little bit of stemmy greenness, a hint of dried dark fruits and a touch of soy sauce. The wine feels rich, full-bodied and quite dense on the palate with moderrate alcohol warmth and intense - even a bit robust - flavors of sweet black cherries, exotic spices, blackcurrant marmalade, some stemmy greenness and a hint of sweet, toasty spice. Although quite big, the wine feels quite balanced with its moderate acidity and ripe, lightly gripping tannins. The finish is warm and spicy with rich flavors of ripe cherries and sweet red fruits along with some bitterness and a hint of blackberry marmalade.

A dense, weighty and easy Primitivo that feels very typical of the variety, but doesn't come across as excessively sweet nor overdone as they usually do. Overall a pretty predictable and somewhat uninspiring Puglian red, but fortunately better than expected. Shows good varietal qualities and balanced structure. A pretty decent effort.

  • dark fruit, licorice(twizzlers) cola and baking spice. velvety and textured on the tongue.
the back of the bottle actually has it pretty spot on.
not as viscous as American zins, partly due to the lower ABV. it's ripe and fruit forward but lacking the residual sugar of Cali Zin.
rather than comparing it to West coast Zin i like to see it as it's own creature. good balance and qpr ~$16usd.
