  • patience is a virtue. i like this better than other ct members but not quite as much as spectator. a great value wine offering some depth and complexity. generous nose and palate filled with sour cherry, fig and chocolate. yes, there is some heat, but not overwhelming. might be even better in a year. would definitely look for this again.

  • Starting nicely -- sour cherry, spice, almost a Zinfandel-like plum or raisin, but then faded quickly. Within a half our in the decanter it started to taste "hot." and lost some fruit. Maybe the bottle was nearing the end of its prime. I suspect this is a nice wine when young.

  • Interesting but unfortunately not fulfilling its potential. Standard-issue Cab nose (though there is no Cabernet in this 100% Castelao wine) of sour cherrys and wet oak. Vanilla, cloves, must, and sour berries, none of them particularly vibrant, on the palate.. Finish starts strong but is clipped after a few seconds. Maybe it just needed more bottle age? Not my cup of tea. Consumed with grilled lamb chops.
