Supposedly the winemaker spent a year with (the great) Bernard Baudry (Chinon) & the families are close...
Quick double decant and then poured (cellar temp)...I'm not at all convinced by this (at the moment), I can taste the 14.5 % alcohol, tar like taste, and lacks lift / freshness... will stick it back in the cellar & hope it is more fun tomorrow. I wouldn't think that it was over the hill (drink dates to 2018) but never tried one of these or any Napa Cab Franc before so hard to say.
Provisional rating 75 (if it doesn't get better with air, it may end up down the sink).
Day 2 - massive improvement ! It still has rather heady and the high alcohol shows, massively ripe (& no where near as enjoyable as say the Baudry Domaine 2018, which is also very ripe, but oh so good), but it has become much more integrated vs day one. Nothing here to make me look away from the Loire, but not that bad.
On the evidence of this bottle the 2014 - 2018 drink dates are way off....I think this could improve for at least a couple more years, but although so, so much better than the first night, I still don't think it really warrants the cellar space. Not a re-buy for me.

Clear, medium ruby in color. Subtle nose of black cherry, licorice and herbs. Medium body. Smooth tannins. Medium acidity. Sour cherry, tobacco and pepper on the palate. Medium finish. I suspect this has mellowed significantly with age; however it was still excellent with roast pork. A solid CA Cab Franc.

Still relatively youthful. Enjoyable enough, but little Cabernet Franc typicity about this for me.

Definitely cab-franc. Herbal, crunchy, red. Seems like this would be a good bistro wine. Serviceable & versatile across a variety of contexts.
