  • Wow, the nose is so different from the palate on this one. Fairly typical Chenin aromas of honey, oily/waxy, peach, melon, quince. Then on the palate, very tart citrus (lemon and lime). It starts off a little thin and very tart, but rounds out to a little fuller mid-palate with some honey & dried fruit & petrol. The finish is long and again very tart along with some oxidized dried flowers and candied fruit notes. I don't really know what to make of this. It's unlike any other chenin I've had, and is a bit of a roller coaster ride. I'd have to say it is not well balanced, with that citrus screaming at you. But it's still an interesting drink.

  • Wow, this is great. The first chenin in a while to make me realize why I love the grape.

From the importer: "We like ours to be drinkable and fresh, we like ours to not smell like matchsticks, and we'd rather they don't give us a big headache in the morning if possible. We're also not willing to give up the complexity that a great Chenin should give you just because we like to drink buckets of it."

Yep. This has a touch of the lemon / minerality that I find overbearing in so many wines, but it's held in check and balanced by other yellow fruit. Nice acidity and cut without being overbearing or screechy.
