Deep garnet in color with browning edge. Nose of cherries, leather, and hint of brett. Tastes of plums, cigar smoke, with hints of leather and cherries. Balanced, but lacking delineation in flavors. Past its prime, but paired well with short ribs and was a pleasant food wine. Drink now.

This wine was very Bordeaux like in its nose and flavor profiles. Nose had a cedary edge that blew off after 30 minutes. Mature cherry fruit with some earthy tones. Picked up roasted plums and cassis as well. The extra bottle age has smoothed out the tannins which I remember as fairly harsh a few years back. This wine is drinking younger than its age. My only concern for my future bottles would be some drying out of the fruit. Will drink last three over next two years.

4 participants- all were told to bring Cabernet in the $50-100 range. Tastings were blind, served by a waitress who did a superb job of keeping us fully in the dark.
Fisher Coach Insignia 1996- Nose a bit muted, hints of eucalyptus and graphite. Fairly light color, hollow middle with a night, but tight finish. Fruit is absent. Really built with time. Rating: 86
Stags Leap Cask 23- 1993- Blueberry on the nose. Nice velvet body with a big, evolving finish. We started with this wine too cool- much better when it warmed up. Rating: 92
O’Shaughnessy- Howell Mountain- 2004- A bouquet of pepper, cherry & cinnamon. Very dark color. A big, “wow” wine. Rating: 94- Wine of the night
Far Niente- 1999- Black cherry on the bouquet. Big, tart finish. Rating: 90

Drank one of these that had errantly sat in the car for a couple weeks. Cork showed evidence of seepage. The wine itself was in good shape, at least for now. Medium-bodied palate with distinctive cherry notes. Medium-long finish. Seemed more "together" than earlier tastings.
