  • 13.5% alcohol. Very good long cork. Consumed over two days, and this note is based on day two. Rich luminous golden colour.
Opulent nose with yellow plum, lanolin and (at times) some oak. The mouth is in the same vein, all these potentially over the top characteristics being held together by superb acidity; dangerously close to decadent but just on the right side for me. Very good mouthfeel.
To be paired with rich food; live prawns on day one and grilled brill on day two were just right. Lobster would be even better.
I have been buying this wine most years until it breached the 30€ mark; my last bottle of 2013.

  • 13.5% alcohol. Long dense cork. Decanted 35 mn ahead. Pale bright lemony colour.
The nose is very appealing with white flowers in evidence. In the mouth, the wine has plenty of energy but without any rough edges; refined pear-like flavours and subliminal oak (the best type). Very good depth and pretty long too.
A model of Côte de Beaune white emphasising elegance, tension and balance over opulence.
I have been buying this wine most years since 2011, and it has been pretty consistent. Looks like it could age another five years at least without problem.

  • 13.5% alcohol. Long cork of reasonable quality. The colour is pale gold with the remnant of a greenish tinge.
The nose is fresh and floral with honeysuckle and a suggestion of gorse. Lively on the palate with an excellent balance; just a hint of richness and oak, but nothing remotely heavy-handed or overstated. Plenty of class here. In perfect condition too, which is worth noting nowadays.

  • 13.5% alcohol. Very good cork, not that long but both dense and elastic. The colour is pale gold and very limpid. The nose is restrained, with yellow flowers and some sweaty aromas (in a nice way, believe it or not). Similar but slightly better in the mouth, with suggestion of honey and lively acidity in the finish.
Had this in parallel with the remnant of Barraud's 2013 Pouilly-Fuissé vv En Buland, and it would be hard not to conclude that the latter was the better wine at this stage.
I stopped buying the Chartron when the 2016 vintage crossed the 30€ threshold. At that price, they can keep it.
This vintage should improve over the next four years.
