Cool little wine at a value price. Blend:, 60% Syrah, 20% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre From Haut Languedoc, schist soil, south & southeast exposure Hand picked grapes, bottled on property, 14% alcohol 2014 Gold Medal Concours de grand vin de France a Macon I was looking for an affordable wine with nice Rhone character. This wine fit the bill with a bit of wet barnyard soil, deep broody color, medium plus weight, bramble, raisins, black fruits and smoked bacon on the palate. Slightly hot yet overall pleasing. I would buy a few more and let them rest a 1-3 more years. Cost was €6.80 at Carrefour Market and I felt like I choose a winner. Looking forward to tasting the left overs tomorrow.
