Smoke, minerals, waxed citrus fruit, white lily, austere but attractive, no caricature features here, very serious profile. Velvety mouthfeel, balanced, restrained, elegant, all the flavours are integrated and kept in check. Spotless finish, clean, precise. Lovely Springbok SB. Drink now.

A private lunch (Restaurant Seagrill **, Brussels, Belgium): A blend of 92% Sauvignon Blanc and 8% Sémillon, grapes feom Elgin, Botrivier and Stellenbosch. Rich, ripe and vinous style on the nose, with subtle grassy and tropical notes and rounded off nicely by some spicy oak; nice freshness, citrus fruit (grapefruit) and minerality on the palate; good length.
