Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 80 points

  • This is a fairly light-bodied Pinot Noir with a combination of cherry and plum flavors but also notes of earth. It is easy drinking but not much more; the wine lacks spice and doesn't have a peppery finish, so I almost forgot I was drinking a Pinot Noir. However, at $10 to $12 a bottle it is worth having a bottle or two around and it stores well for at least 5 years.
Let me point out that Pinot Evil comes from at least three different regions (that I know of): Edna Valley (see comments above), Santa Barbara, and France (I don't know where - Corsica?!?). I tried all three regions and consider Edna Valley to be the best (and costliest) of the three. I also heard that they make a Pinto Evil using Romanian grapes - cheaper grapes and labor (?!?) - but I haven't been able to confirm that.

  • Fairly rich, dark fruit. Some spice, and a pretty big pinot for the price. Not great, but a good wine in the $10 range.
